Report: Supergirl Actor Matthias Schoenaerts Could Be Jailed for Six Months

Actor Matthias Schoenaerts, known for his role in Supergirl, has been reportedly sentenced to six months in jail following convictions for driving without a valid license and insurance. According to the Belga News Agency, he still has the right to appeal the decision, which could prevent him from serving the sentence.

If his appeal is unsuccessful, Schoenaerts will be required to serve the prison term, which may impact his promotional commitments for Supergirl. In addition to the jail sentence, he has been fined 4,000 euros and prohibited from driving in Belgium for one year.

A court spokesperson, Luc De Cleir, confirmed that Schoenaerts retains the option to appeal the ruling. However, should he serve the sentence, it could interfere with his work schedule related to the film.

This is not Schoenaerts first run-in with the law; he has accumulated 11 prior convictions. Recently, authorities stopped him in Pelt for driving without a license and for refusing a breath test. Reports indicate that he became aggressive when his vehicle was towed and was detained for several hours.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Schoenaerts would play the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills in the upcoming Supergirl film starring Milly Alcock. Scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, the movie follows Kara Zor-El, Supermans cousin, who travels the galaxy with her dog Krypto to celebrate her 21st birthday. A tragic event sets her on a perilous journey for revenge, accompanied by Ruthye Marye Knoll.
