Jennifer Garner spent her Thanksgiving morning volunteering at The Midnight Mission's annual charity lunch on Skid Row in Los Angeles. The 53-year-old actress shared her experience on the organizations official Instagram, expressing gratitude for the day and the opportunity to help others.
My name is Jen and today Im grateful for this beautiful day, for life, for the Los Angeles community who is here taking care of their own, for my family, all the things, Garner wrote. Wherever you live, there is somebody helping feed people who have food insecurity and people who are unhoused. Find those people and help them.
She highlighted the work of The Midnight Mission, emphasizing the compassion and respect they show to those in need. Garner added a lighthearted touch, noting she was in charge of serving mashed potatoes.
In Los Angeles, Downtown LA, its Midnight Mission. They do such an incredible job of not only feeding but serving this community with love, with dignity, with respect and with heaps and heaps of mashed potatoes, because thats what Im in charge of.
The charity acknowledged her efforts with appreciation, noting the combination of heart and dedication she brought to the event. Garner also shared moments from the day on her personal Instagram, reflecting on the unique experiences her career has allowed her to have and her gratitude for the people who have taught her along the way.
This was not Garners first Thanksgiving volunteering. Last year, she was joined by her ex-husband Ben Affleck and their three children Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 13. A source noted that the family enjoys giving back together and cherishes these moments.
Affleck has also supported The Midnight Mission for several years, first learning about the organization through a parent at his childrens school. In 2020, he shared that volunteering gave him personal fulfillment, even if the direct impact on others was uncertain.
