Americans may face a longer period of Donald Trump's influence over the country than initially expected, according to Elon Musk. The tech mogul and entrepreneur has shared an intriguing prediction about the future political landscape in the United States.
In the previous year, Trump secured a second term in office, defeating Kamala Harris and regaining control of the White House. Although he lost his re-election bid in 2020 to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, Trump has continued to hint at a potential run for an unprecedented third term.
While his second term is slated to end in 2028, Musk's comments suggest that Trump's time in the Oval Office may not be over after that. During a recent virtual appearance at a private event, Musk discussed the next 12 years in American politics, predicting a significant period of Republican dominance.
Elon Musk envisioned that after Trump's second term concludes in 2028, Vice President JD Vance will likely take over the presidency. If Vance ascends to power, Musk believes he could serve two terms, potentially keeping the Republican Party in control of the White House until 2037. JD Vance is already seen as a strong contender for the 2028 Republican nomination.
Despite the 22nd Amendment limiting Trump's ability to seek a third term, he has openly expressed his desire to run again. In October, Trump remarked, I would love to do it, and hinted that he would not completely rule out the possibility of another presidential bid. Musk recently received a note of appreciation from Trump after the entrepreneur publicly questioned whether Trump had ever sent him a thank-you message before.
If JD Vance doesn't emerge as the Republican frontrunner in 2028, another potential candidate may rise from Trump's inner circle. Recent polls indicate that Donald Trump Jr. is gaining significant support for a potential run in the upcoming presidential race. Trump Jr. currently holds the position of Trustee and Executive Vice President at the Trump Organization.
Will Donald Trump make a return for a third term? Only time will tell.
