A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia has refused to bring a new indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to a report from CNN. This decision came only ten days after the original mortgage fraud indictment was dismissed.
The earlier case was nullified when a judge determined that Acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan was appointed without proper legal authority, rendering the indictment invalid. Following that ruling, federal prosecutors attempted to pursue new charges, but the grand jury opted not to move forward.
Further updates are expected as the situation continues to unfold.
