Republican Senator Mike Lee has indicated that a Congressional hearing regarding Netflix's $82.7 billion purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studio operations is "almost certain." He raised concerns, highlighting potential "antitrust red flags" surrounding the merger.
In a post on X late Friday, Lee, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committees subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy, and consumer rights, urged the public to "stay tuned" for further developments.
Representatives from both Senator Lee's office and Warner Bros. Discovery were unavailable for immediate comment, while Netflix chose not to provide any statement at this time.
Further updates will follow.
