Rapper 6ix9ine Receives Three-Month Prison Sentence for Violating Supervised Release

Rapper 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has been ordered to serve three months in prison after violating the terms of his supervised release. The ruling comes after prosecutors requested a prison term ranging from three to nine months following Hernandez's guilty plea.

This sentence continues a series of legal challenges for the artist, originating from his 2018 racketeering case. At that time, he cooperated with authorities by testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, which led to a reduced sentence. He was released early in 2020.

According to Billboard, Hernandez repeatedly broke the conditions of his five-year supervised release. In November 2024, he admitted to drug use and traveling to Las Vegas without authorization, receiving a 45-day jail term and an additional year of supervised release. In February 2025, he was found in possession of cocaine and MDMA, and in August, he was involved in an assault incident at a Florida mall.

The rappers defense team had requested six months of house arrest, arguing that the drug quantity was minimal and that the assault did not cause serious injury. Attorney Lance Lazzaro highlighted that prison confinement for Hernandez would be particularly harsh due to his classification, resulting in isolation from other inmates and limited outdoor time.

6ix9ine is scheduled to begin his prison term on January 6, 2026.
