Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Responds to 50 Cent’s Netflix Docuseries

Sean Diddy Combs, once celebrated as a top figure in the music industry and now embroiled in serious legal issues, has publicly denounced the Netflix docuseries produced by his longtime rival, 50 Cent. The series, which explores Diddys life and legal controversies, has been labeled by the currently incarcerated artist as a shameful hit piece. His team also alleges that Netflix included unauthorized footage.

Legal Troubles and Background

Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in prison, with credit for 12 months already served. His conviction stemmed from charges including federal sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering. Before these legal battles, Combs was regarded as one of the most influential figures in music, having helped launch the careers of artists such as the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher.

Netflix Docuseries Controversy

The Netflix project, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, is set to premiere on December 2, 2025. Diddys representatives assert that the series incorporates private moments, pre-indictment material from an unfinished project, and conversations involving legal strategy without consent. They argue that the footage was misappropriated and that Netflix acted illegally by including it.

In an official statement, Diddys team said: Todays GMA teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release. As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr. Combs has been gathering material since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work.

The statement further emphasized that none of the content was provided by Diddy or his team, raising questions about how the material was accessed and why it was used. Diddys legal representatives have reportedly been in communication with Netflix regarding these concerns.

50 Cents Position

Despite Diddys criticism, 50 Cent has stated that the documentary was not intended as a personal attack. The series aims to chronicle Combs life and career, including both his achievements and controversies.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning will debut on Netflix on December 2, 2025.
