Margot Robbie has shared her experience of working on the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights just three months after the birth of her son. The Australian actress revealed that she was navigating a completely different headspace while filming so soon postpartum.
Speaking with British Vogue, Robbie, 35, explained that her approach to the project was unlike her usual preparation. I was three months postpartum when filming began. My routine was all over the place, she said. She recalled expressing concern to writer-director Emerald Fennell, asking, What if Im not ready enough? Fennell reassured her: I dont want you to prepare. I just need you to be present. Robbie described this guidance as a calming way to manage her anxiety, emphasizing the importance of connecting with her body rather than overthinking.
The Barbie star welcomed her first child with husband Tom Ackerley on October 17, 2024. Sources confirmed that the couple has been enjoying quiet family life in Los Angeles while adjusting to parenthood.
Although she rarely discusses her son publicly, Robbie told Entertainment Tonight in August 2025 that becoming a parent has been the best. She explained, You try to explain it to someone who has kidsthey already understand. And if they dont, its probably not that interesting to them.
The 2026 Wuthering Heights cast also includes Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Shazad Latif, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell. The story follows the tragic love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, exploring themes of obsession, jealousy, and social divisions that echo across generations.
Robbie discussed with Vogue how she, Fennell, and Elordi approached the romantic aspects of the story. They focused on subtle, emotionally charged moments rather than explicit gestures, creating a connection that felt authentic. One memorable scene involved Elordis Heathcliff lifting Catherine (Robbie) with one arm while shielding her from the rain with the other, an intimate detail that left a strong impression on her.
Robbie noted that the film emphasizes the perspective of women in their 30s, offering a fresh take on a classic period romance. Wuthering Heights is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.
