Margot Robbie Shares Challenges of Filming Postpartum Were ‘More Haphazard’

Margot Robbie welcomed her first child last year and quickly returned to her acting career, beginning production on Wuthering Heights just three months after becoming a mother with husband Tom Ackerley. The actress has now discussed the unique challenges she faced during this period.

Filming Challenges Postpartum

Adjusting to motherhood while resuming work so soon is a significant transition. Robbie shared her experience in a recent British Vogue interview, reflecting on the difficulties of filming her new project shortly after her son's birth on October 17, 2024.

"I was three months postpartum when we started shooting. So I was in a very different headspace," Robbie revealed. She admitted that her usual routines were disrupted, making the process feel "more haphazard" than normal.

The actress also expressed moments of self-doubt about her performance, which she discussed with director Emerald Fennell. "I remember saying to Emerald, What if Im not prepared enough? She told me, I dont want you to prepare. I just need you to be in the moment." This guidance helped Robbie manage her anxiety, allowing her to focus on being present in her body rather than overthinking.

Motherhood and Career

This is not the first time Robbie has shared insights into her journey as a new parent. She previously described motherhood as "the best" experience while promoting her project A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
