Kourtney Kardashian Justifies Choosing Motherhood Over Career: 'Didn't See Not Working as an Option'

Kourtney Kardashian has spoken openly about the challenges of motherhood, admitting she initially felt uncertain about how to navigate parenting, especially while balancing a career. The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star recently shared that motherhood has become the central focus of her life, taking precedence over all else.

Reflecting on her journey, Kourtney also discussed her warm relationship with her stepdaughter, Alabama Barker, highlighting the strong bond they share.

Adjusting to Parenting and Work

In the latest episode of "The Kardashians," 46-year-old Kourtney revisited the early days of raising her first child, Mason, admitting she was largely unprepared. "When I was 30, and I had Mason, nobody told me what to do, I didnt read any books," she recalled. Over time, she embraced attachment parenting with Mason, who is now 15.

By the time her daughter Penelope was born, Kourtney approached parenting with more intention, having read about attachment parenting beforehand. "Even though I was working, I didnt really think it was an option to not work. Now, I have the choice, and I feel grateful to focus on what truly matters to me," she explained.

Kourtney shares her youngest, 2-year-old Rocky Thirteen, with husband Travis Barker. She is also mother to Mason and Reign, 10, and Penelope, 13, with ex-partner Scott Disick.

Embracing a Quieter Lifestyle

Although Kourtney began motherhood without a clear roadmap, she now enjoys a calmer lifestyle that revolves around her family. During a February episode, filmed for the SKIMS and Dolce & Gabbana collaboration photoshoot with her sister Kim Kardashian, Kourtney reflected on how motherhood reshaped her priorities.

"Being on set with Kim is fun, but I find myself wanting to wear bigger clothes. Im not focused on showing my body right now," she admitted. "Im not working out; my focus is on caring for my children and supporting my husband on tour. Im just in a different phase of life."

Learning from Parenting Challenges

Kourtney has also acknowledged parenting habits she regrets. In a recent episode, she hosted a panel on breastfeeding with expert Erica Komisar and admitted to often using her phone while feeding her son Rockya practice she now avoids due to guilt and advice from Komisar. She shared that this habit occurred unknowingly with all of her children.

Balancing Career and Wellness

To maintain stability amidst the demands of motherhood and work, Kourtney has established key wellness routines. She avoids alcohol and coffee and prioritizes daily walks, taking supplements, and getting at least eight hours of sleep. Maintaining a consistent schedule, she says, helps her stay grounded even when her childrens needs take precedence.

Strong Bond with Stepdaughter

Kourtney also highlighted her close relationship with stepdaughter Alabama Barker. During a filming session for Alabamas Twitch stream intro, Kourtney expressed joy over their bond. "Alabama and I are super close. Ive known her since she was 8 years old," she said, adding that she loves that Alabama thinks of her as "cool enough" to feature in her content.
