Jada Pinkett Smith is now the subject of a $3 million legal claim alleging she threatened the life of a man formerly connected to Will Smith. The lawsuit, obtained by Page Six, has intensified tensions between Bilaal Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal Salaam, and the Smiths.
Filed on November 7, the legal action is the latest episode in a saga that became public in 2023, when Salaam made claims concerning the Smiths marriage and private life, including allegations about Will Smiths interactions with other men.
The new lawsuit accuses Pinkett Smith of issuing threats against Salaam and attempting to damage his reputation to silence him. According to the filing, the incident took place on September 25, 2021, during Smiths 53rd birthday celebration at the Regency Calabasas Common. Salaam claims, While in the lobby, Jada Pinkett Smith approached Plaintiff with approximately seven members of her entourage, became verbally aggressive, and threatened Plaintiff by stating that if he continued telling her personal business, he would end up missing or catch a bullet.
Salaam further alleges that he was pressured to sign a non-disclosure agreement under threat and that an associate of Pinkett Smith followed him to his car while continuing the threats. The suit also claims that he faced a retaliatory campaign after refusing to assist with managing the aftermath of Will Smiths 2022 Oscars incident involving Chris Rock.
According to the lawsuit, Salaam was asked to carry out actions he deemed illegal, unethical, or morally compromising. He is seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, asserting that Pinkett Smith publicly denied witnessing Smiths alleged sexual interactions with men. The filing contends that this denial was false, as Salaam had previously released a video showing Will Smith groping Alfonso Ribeiro in the presence of Pinkett Smith and her children. The lawsuit states that this false claim was meant to discredit Salaam, portraying him as unreliable and causing public ridicule and reputational harm.
Salaam alleges Pinkett Smith engaged in malicious, intentional, and reckless conduct and claims he was threatened by her manager to prevent him from publishing a memoir about his experiences with the Smiths.
Neither Jada Pinkett Smith nor Will Smith has publicly responded to the lawsuit. Salaam is seeking $3 million in damages for emotional trauma, reputational harm, and financial losses.
