Dave Coulier from Full House Discloses Recurrence of Cancer Diagnosis

Dave Coulier, best known for his role on Full House, has announced that he has been diagnosed with early-stage tongue cancer. This news follows only months after the actor-comedian shared that he had gone into remission from non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In a recent interview on NBCs Today show, Coulier explained that the cancer was discovered during a routine follow-up PET scan. The 66-year-old described the diagnosis: I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up, and something flared on the PET scan. It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue.

He clarified that this condition is unrelated to his previous lymphoma. Coulier added that the cancer may be linked to an HPV virus he contracted decades ago, stating that while many people carry the virus, his developed into carcinoma over time.

Despite the diagnosis, Coulier remains optimistic about his recovery, highlighting that early-stage tongue cancer has a curability rate above 90 percent. He is undergoing a treatment plan consisting of 35 radiation sessions, scheduled to finish on December 31.

Discussing the treatment, Coulier said it is a whole different animal than chemo. It doesnt feel as aggressive, but there are still side effects.

The actor reflected on the emotional impact of facing two cancer diagnoses in such a short span, particularly on his wife, Melissa. Nevertheless, he maintains a hopeful perspective: Im going to get on the other side of this.

Coulier emphasized the importance of early detection: But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. He encouraged people to keep up with regular screenings, including colonoscopies, prostate exams, and breast exams.
