Amanda Seyfried and Daniel Blumberg Collaborate on 'Clothed by the Sun' From 'The Testament of Ann Lee' Film

Amanda Seyfried is starring in the forthcoming film The Testament of Ann Lee, scheduled for release this Christmas. Ahead of the premiere, Seyfried has teamed up with Oscar-winning composer Daniel Blumberg to unveil the song Clothed by the Sun.

This track is among three original pieces Blumberg created for the film, which explores the life of the Shaker movement's founder. Alongside these originals, the soundtrack also includes ten reinterpreted Shaker hymns.

On Clothed by the Sun, Seyfried and Blumbergs vocals blend over a delicate arrangement of guitar, harmonica, strings, and bells, creating a hauntingly beautiful soundscape.

Blumberg shared insight into the songs creation: I composed this in the final days of post-production, secluded in a Berlin mixing studio. After a year immersed in the film, Ann Lees world was deeply ingrained in me. The bond between Ann and her brother moved me, and I began with a line reflecting brotherly love.

He added, Amanda recorded her vocals in New York the following day. Originally intended as a solo, it evolved into a duet because director Mona Fastvold loved the mood it brought to the films conclusion. We often sang together during recording sessions, so its wonderful to finally have a track capturing that collaboration and it opens doors for some live performances.

The Testament of Ann Lee will debut in select theaters on Christmas Day, with a wider release planned for January. Seyfried portrays Ann Lee, with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall, known for her work on Vox Lux. Blumberg, a London-based artist, previously collaborated with Fastvold on The World to Come in 2020 and recently earned an Oscar for Best Original Score for The Brutalist.
