Spotify Wrapped introduces top audiobooks and new narrator for the first time – Exclusive

Book enthusiasts now have a new way to showcase their 2025 listening habits: Spotify Wrapped is incorporating audiobook data into its annual personalized review. Users can see their total listening hours, favorite titles, and genres alongside their music stats. Some listeners might even receive a special video message from their most-listened-to authors.

Audiobooks Join Wrapped for the First Time

For the first time, Spotify Wrapped will break down users' audiobook activity. The feature, which previously focused on music, now allows readers to discover their top audiobooks, preferred genres, and total listening hours. Rankings are based on the cumulative hours each title is streamed.

Rebecca McGuire, Spotifys associate director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, explained, "Everyone enjoys sharing their reading accomplishments and favorite books of the year. Wrapped naturally taps into that enthusiasm." This year, Spotify also offers personalized messages from authors such as Rebecca Yarros, Carley Fortune, Richard Osman, Sarah J. Maas, and James Patterson.

According to McGuire, about half of Spotify Premium subscribers explored the audiobook feature in 2025, with many first-time users discovering audio platforms through the service. "The response from both readers and authors indicates that Spotify is energizing the audiobook market," she added.

Julia Whelan Named Top Audiobook Narrator

Spotify revealed that Julia Whelan earned the title of top audiobook narrator for 2025, marking the first time the platform has recognized a narrator. Whelan voiced major bestsellers including Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid, These Summer Storms by Sarah MacLean, and Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry.

Speaking about the honor, Whelan said, "This recognition highlights the growing significance of audiobooks in media. I'm grateful personally, but mostly thrilled for the industry being acknowledged in this way." USA TODAY previously named her the voice of the summer for 2025, underscoring her influence beyond narration.

Top Audiobooks of 2025

Romantasy dominated Spotifys audiobook listening trends this year. According to Spotify, the most-streamed global audiobooks included:

  • Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
  • Lights Out by Navessa Allen
  • Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

  • The House of My Mother by Shari Franke
  • The Wedding People by Alison Espach
