December 3 Rivian Automotive is set to recall 34,824 vehicles in the United States after discovering a defect in the seat belt pretensioner cable that could prevent the driver's seat belt from functioning correctly, raising the risk of injury in a crash, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
To address the problem, Rivian is releasing an over-the-air software update for selected 20222025 EDV models. Additionally, the company will examine and, if necessary, replace the drivers seat belt pretensioner assembly, the agency stated.
