Newsom Mocks Trump for Fictitious ‘Peace’ Award

California Governor Gavin Newsom poked fun at the so-called peace prize presented to President Donald Trump by FIFA on Friday, suggesting it resembled a meaningless participation award rather than a genuine honor.

The former president received a gold medalwhich he placed around his own neckalong with a trophy and certificate from FIFA chief Gianni Infantino during the World Cup group draw event at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Infantino, known for frequently praising Trump, claimed the newly invented award recognized Trumps extraordinary efforts to promote global unity and peace.

Newsoms communications team quickly offered a satirical redesign of the medal. Their version featured a smiling gold star and a playful inscription: If You Had Fun, You Won!

Reports indicated that Infantino rushed to create the award shortly after Trump failed to secure the Nobel Peace Prize in October, surprising senior officials within FIFA.

During the ceremony, Infantino described the honor as an annual recognition meant to celebrate an individual who demonstrates unwavering dedication to fostering global harmony through leadership and action. Trump became the inaugural recipient.

Following the accolades, Trump shifted topics to the naming of sports in the United States, arguing that American football should adopt a different name because soccer is the true form of football.

The event concluded with the announcement of next years World Cup groupings, placing the United States alongside Australia, Paraguay, and one of the following teams: Turkey, Romania, Slovakia, or Kosovo.
