Pop star Sabrina Carpenter criticized the Trump administration after her track Juno was featured in a video promoting deportations, calling the move evil and disgusting. On Tuesday, she posted on X demanding that her music not be used to support what she described as an inhumane agenda.
"This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda," Carpenter wrote.
Hours later, a White House spokesperson responded mockingly, incorporating references to Carpenters lyrics while defending the video. Abigail Jackson, speaking for the administration, stated, "Heres a Short n Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We wont apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?"
According to TRAC Reports, as of November 16, 2025, ICE was holding 65,135 individuals, 47,964 of whom had no criminal convictionsrepresenting nearly three-quarters of all detainees (73.6%). The Cato Institute noted that DHS and ICE often use misleading language in reporting, counting people with pending charges as criminal arrests, even when the charges are minor or later dismissed.
Insiders previously revealed that the White House occasionally selects music from outspoken critics to provoke reactions and draw attention to cultural debates. One spokesperson admitted, "We do it on purpose."
Social Media Response
Online reactions were swift. Many urged Carpenter to pursue a copyright complaint for unauthorized use of her song, though some suggested the video could fall under fair use. Fans widely supported her stand.
@BahlestKimmie wrote, "Sue him. 100% This is copyrighted work which is being used in a way that could affect your reputation and sales of your work."
@Mark_Travis added, "Proud to support an artist who uses her platform to support vulnerable, marginalized and demonized groups of people with her voice and charitable efforts."
@clairobeatty posted, "get them again for me sister," along with a GIF of Ariana Grande performing a dramatic gesture.
@primadonnatella commented, "you gained hella brownie points for this ngl. someone else could never, so props to you for leading by example. #respect"
