On December 3rd, Brandi Carlile made her highly anticipated return to NPR's Tiny Desk Concert, delivering a live performance featuring songs from her latest album, Returning to Myself. This marked her second appearance on the iconic video series, 13 years after her debut on the show.

Joining Carlile on stage were Solomon Dorsey on upright bass and Sistastrings, the dynamic duo of Chauntee and Monique Ross, who contributed with their keyboard and string instruments. The group kicked off the concert with "A War with Time," the second single from Carlile's new album.

As she addressed the audience, Carlile expressed her excitement, saying, "Im so excited to play," and revealed her admiration for Tiny Desk Concerts in general. "It's the kind of thing that really makes your blood run a little cold," she shared, adding, "And thats something Im seeking more and more as I approach my 40s."

Throughout the performance, Carlile spoke candidly about the nerves she felt, noting, "Im just nervous enough to really, deeply show up." This vulnerability resonated as she went on to perform "A Woman Oversees" for the first time live. Reflecting on the intimate atmosphere, she said, "This is a soulful place to come and do something for the first time. It really is."

The set concluded with powerful renditions of "Human" and "Returning to Myself," the title track of her eighth studio album, which was released earlier in October.
