Simon Cowell Reveals Rarely Speaking to Ryan Seacrest 15 Years After Leaving "American Idol"

In a recent conversation with The New York Times, Simon Cowell reflected on his connection with Ryan Seacrest, the longtime host of American Idol, where Cowell sat on the judging panel for nine seasons before departing in 2010.

Cowell, now 66, shared that he and Seacrest, 50, have little communication today, stating that they rarely talk now. While speaking about Seacrest's ongoing presence in entertainment, he admitted he couldn't explain the exact reason for Seacrests continued popularity but acknowledged his strong work ethic.

Discussing their years together on American Idol, Cowell described Seacrest as intensely driven. According to Cowell, Seacrest was very, very ambitious and focused on rising to fame, noting the host's massive desire to be famous.

Despite Cowell's exit from the series, Seacrest has remained at the forefront of the franchise, continuing to host the program, which concluded its 23rd season earlier this year. Beyond Idol, Seacrest leads Wheel of Fortune, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, his radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the annual Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve broadcast.

In a 2017 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Seacrest referred to his time working with Cowell as always entertaining, adding that he missed collaborating with him.

More recently, Seacrest mentioned in an interview that despite his busy schedule, he manages to rest well, explaining that he gets to sleep quickly and stays active through the day between those hours of rest.
