Sean Combs' Mother Criticizes Netflix for "False" Claims of Son Hitting Her & Other Alleged "Fake Narratives" in 'Reckoning' Docuseries

Janice Combs, mother of Sean Combs, has publicly challenged Netflix over claims made in the documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which premiered on December 2, 2025. The matriarch described several parts of the series as inaccurate and misleading, aiming to tarnish her familys reputation.

In a statement, Janice emphasized that the portrayal of her as an abusive parent is false. She recounted raising Sean as a single mother, often juggling three to four jobs to ensure he received a quality upbringing and education. I raised Sean with love and hard work, not abuse, she said, refuting specific claims made in the docuseries.

She also addressed allegations that Sean physically assaulted her following the tragic City College event on December 28, 1991, which resulted in nine deaths and numerous injuries. Janice categorically denied these claims, calling them inaccurate and patently false and criticized the series for exploiting the tragedy to promote misleading narratives.

Janice Combs further stated that her son has always been a devoted and responsible son, taking care of her health and providing financial support. She demanded a public retraction of the distortions, falsehoods, and misleading statements featured in the series.

Sean Combs, sentenced in October to four years in prison for convictions related to prostitution, is currently serving his term at Fort Dix FCI in New Jersey. The documentary, produced by Curtis 50 Cent Jackson and directed by Alexandria Stapleton, has faced backlash from the Combs family, who argue that it misrepresents events and motives.

Netflix responded, insisting the documentary is not a hit piece and that Curtis Jackson does not have creative control over the content. The streamer also clarified that no participants were paid for their involvement. However, Janice Combs maintains her demand for corrections and retractions of the allegedly false claims.

Her full statement includes: I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix Sean Combs: The Reckoning. These inaccuracies regarding my son Seans upbringing and family life are intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation. Sean has always been an industrious, goal-oriented, and respectful individual. I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods, and misleading statements be publicly retracted.
