A segment of the Isle of Man TT course will be closed during daytime hours to allow the removal of hazardous roadside trees. The restriction is scheduled for Saturday, with a possible extension to Sunday if necessary, affecting the A1 road stretch between Peel and Douglas.

The closure specifically impacts Main Road in Union Mills, from just past Strang Road to Trollaby Lane, between 09:00 and 17:00 GMT. Traffic diversions have been arranged for all vehicles, including buses.

The Department of Infrastructure confirmed that the tree felling is being conducted by a private contractor on behalf of a landowner. Weekend scheduling was chosen to reduce interference with weekday commuter, school, and commercial traffic.

Alternative routes have been set up at Braddan Bridge and in Glen Vine for travelers moving between Douglas and the islands western areas during the works. Bus Vannin will reroute services along Cooil Road and Glen Darragh Road, meaning stops at Ballagarey, Union Mills, Strang, and Nobles Hospital will not be served.

The road is expected to reopen on Saturday in time for the Isle of Man Young Farmers Christmas Tractor Run, which is anticipated to pass along this section at approximately 20:30 en route to the TT grandstand in Douglas.
