Survey finds Anglesey is the happiest place in Wales

Anglesey, a stronghold of the Welsh language, has been recognized as the happiest place to reside in Wales, according to a recent survey. Locals celebrated the island for its scenic coastline, welcoming communities, and reportedly sunnier weather compared to other parts of Wales.

The 2025 survey, conducted by property platform Rightmove, gathered opinions from nearly 20,000 respondents across the United Kingdom. In England, Skipton in Yorkshire was ranked highest, while Stirling claimed the top spot in Scotland.

Ann Evans Jones, director of Morgan Evans estate agency in Anglesey, highlighted the island's appeal. "Anglesey offers breathtaking coastal walks, serene beaches for relaxation, and various water activities. It's a wonderful place to raise a family, with villages fostering a strong sense of community," she said.

Local resident Justin Miers from Menai Bridge described Anglesey as "gorgeous," emphasizing his daily walks across the bridge to admire the coastline. Phyllis Williams from Llanfwrog praised both the sunny weather and the islands communal spirit, a sentiment echoed by her friend Margaret Williams, who noted that many villages maintain tight-knit communities where people look out for one another.

Magdalena Kuc, living in Brynsiencyn, remarked on the islands deep historical and spiritual significance, pointing to ancient sacred sites. Her son, Nathaniel, said that the combination of mountains and sea contributes greatly to his happiness. Rachel Hutchinson from Menai Bridge agreed, noting that the island exudes a peaceful, spiritual energy while still being well-connected, with most destinations just 20 minutes away.
