Incredible Footage Captures Enormous Fire That Destroyed Warehouse Complex in St. Louis: ‘We’re in for a Long Haul’

A dramatic video from downtown St. Louis captured a huge fire consuming a high-rise warehouse complex on Friday morning, as over 200 firefighters worked to control the flames. According to KOAM, the fire erupted roughly four blocks from the iconic St. Louis Gateway Arch in an area slated for redevelopment.

KMOV reported that all four buildings in the complex ignited overnight, with one structure collapsing during the blaze. The fire then spread to nearby power lines and railroad tracks.

St. Louis City Fire Department Chief Dennis Jenkerson stated that hundreds of firefighters from multiple departments responded to the emergency around 3 a.m. He told KSDK that several homeless individuals living in and around the warehouse were safely evacuated. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Chief Jenkerson confirmed that the fire has been contained, though small flare-ups may continue as embers remain active. He noted that the blaze could persist for several days due to the combustible materials inside the buildings. "Were going to be here a while," Jenkerson said. "This is likely to be a two or three-day incident."

The fire also caused power outages, affecting around 80 Ameren Missouri customers in the vicinity. Jenkerson added that it is too early to determine the cause of the fire, noting that electrical outages in the area are being addressed once Ameren gives clearance.
