39-year-old man killed by pickup truck while sleeping in his apartment

A 39-year-old man lost his life when a red pickup truck collided with his ground-floor apartment in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, December 2. The victim, Raidel Liranza Alvarez, was reportedly asleep in his bedroom at the time of the crash.

Authorities from Fort Worth Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 6:25 p.m. near the 4600 block of Sycamore School Road. Police confirmed that Alvarezs sister, his only close relative in Texas, also lives nearby.

The incident occurred after the pickup truck lost control and entered the apartment complex property. The driver remained at the scene and completed a standard field sobriety test, which showed no signs of impairment, according to police statements. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.

Officer Buddy Calzada explained that investigators will examine the vehicle for possible mechanical issues and gather any available video footage or witness accounts of the crash. Spokesperson Daniel Segura added that authorities are looking into the vehicle's speed and other factors that may have contributed to the collision.

Neighbors expressed shock and grief over the tragedy. Angela Kimberling said, Im very sad Im confused. What really happened is what were questioning. Donna Phillips added, Its a tragic loss for such a good person. He had dreams he was on a journey. He was like a son to me. Always willing to help me.

Alvarezs sister has launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses, writing, "I am Lorena Garcia, sister of Raidel Liranza Alvarez. I am raising funds for my brothers funeral; he passed away on December 2, 2025. Our family is deeply saddened, and I was the only family he had close by. Today I am raising funds because I need them to be able to say goodbye to him."
