Was a Diaper Change the Cause of Violent Incident? Kentucky Man Allegedly Inflicted Severe Head Trauma on Child through 'Wanton Manipulation'

A man from Kentucky is facing serious criminal charges after a child sustained significant head injuries, reportedly during a diaper change. Jorge Jesus Perez Ramirez was arrested and formally charged on November 26 with first-degree assault and first-degree child abuse involving a victim aged 12 or younger, linked to an incident that occurred on October 14.

Authorities state that following a medical evaluation, the childs injuries were identified as consistent with pediatric abusive head trauma. The child required hospitalization in critical condition.

A court memorandum alleges that Perez Ramirez exhibited extreme disregard for the childs safety, wantonly manipulating the victim in such a harsh way to create an injury indicative of pediatric abusive head trauma while performing the diaper change. According to Louisville Metro Police, Perez Ramirez is the boyfriend of the childs mother.

Perez Ramirez has pleaded not guilty and is currently held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Monday, December 8.
