Walmart introduces drone delivery service in this city. Find out where.

Starting December 3, Walmart will begin delivering orders via drones in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan region. This marks the first city in a planned expansion of the retailers drone delivery program, which was previously available in just two locations.

The service operates through a collaboration with Wing, a drone technology company under Alphabet, Googles parent company. Walmart promotes drone deliveries as a faster and more convenient way to receive items directly at customers homes.

Current and Upcoming Locations

In Atlanta, six Walmart stores will offer drone deliveries:

• Walmart #618, 4166 Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy, Hiram, GA
• Walmart #3403, 3615 Charles Hardy Pkwy, Dallas, GA
• Walmart #3201, 135 Willow Ln, McDonough, GA
• Walmart #5252, 4221 Atlanta Hwy, Loganville, GA

Walmart plans to expand drone delivery to four additional U.S. cities in the near future, bringing the total number of stores offering the service to 100. Other cities expected to receive drone deliveries include Charlotte, NC, Houston, TX, and Orlando, FL.

How the Drone Delivery Service Works

Customers can access drone deliveries through the Wing mobile app. Once an order is placed, drones can deliver packages in as little as 30 minutes, with flights averaging under five minutes. Each drone can carry up to two pounds and reach speeds of approximately 60 miles per hour. Popular drone-delivered items include fruit, eggs, pet food, and ice cream.

To use the service, customers should:

1. Check if their address is eligible for drone delivery at wing.com/walmart
2. Download the Wing mobile app
3. Place an order and confirm the delivery location
4. Receive the package via drone at the designated spot
