DHS declares increased immigration enforcement in New Orleans

On December 3, the Department of Homeland Security announced a new initiative to combat illegal immigration in New Orleans, marking the latest city to experience an increased presence of federal agents amid the Trump administrations broad deportation efforts. The operation, named Operation Catahoula Crunch, aims to apprehend criminal illegal aliens who are free due to sanctuary city policies, according to a DHS statement.

New Orleans joins a growing list of Democratic-led cities under scrutiny, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC, and Charlotte, North Carolina, where similar enforcement actions have been carried out.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, Sanctuary city policies put American communities at risk by allowing criminal illegal aliens to remain free, creating dangerous situations for both the public and law enforcement.

She further explained that the operation focuses on violent offenders previously released after arrests for serious crimes such as home invasion, armed robbery, grand theft auto, and sexual assault. Through efforts like Catahoula Crunch, we are reinforcing law and order on behalf of the American people, McLaughlin added.
