Current Recall of Popular Salad Dressings—Hidden Valley Ranch, Costco, and Others

Several popular salad dressings and sauces have been recalled after potential contamination with small pieces of plastic. Products affected include Caesar, ranch, Italian, and BBQ varieties sold at grocery stores, delis, and restaurants.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning advising consumers to either discard the affected products or return them to the place of purchase. The contamination could pose choking hazards or cause injury.

Products Included in the Recall

  • Costco Service Deli Caesar Dressing Lot Codes: B28025, B28125, B28225, B29025, B29125, B29225
  • Costco Food Court Caesar Dressing
  • Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch
  • Monarch Italian Salad Dressing
  • Sysco Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip
  • Pepper Mill Creamy Caesar Dressing
  • Pepper Mill Regal Caesar Dressing
  • Publix Deli Carolina-Style Mustard BBQ Sauce
  • Ventura Caesar Dressing

Many of these items were distributed in grocery store delis, salad bars, or large 1-gallon containers. Consumers should check their refrigerators and remove any of the recalled products immediately.

The contamination is reportedly from black plastic planting material found in granulated onion, which may lead to injury, illness, or choking. Anyone experiencing health issues after consuming the products should seek medical advice.
