3 Important Food Recalls to Be Aware of This Week

This week, attention turns to shredded cheese, snack crackers, and ice cream, as certain products have been recalled for safety reasons. Heres how to spot items that may pose a risk to you or your family.

Over 1.5 Million Bags of Shredded Cheese Recalled for Possible Metal Contamination

On December 1, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a Class II recall involving more than 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese. The recall affects private-label brands such as Aldi's Happy Farms, Target's Good & Gather, and Walmart's Great Value, sold across 31 states.

If you have shredded cheese in your fridge, check carefully before consuming. A full list of affected products, UPC codes, and expiration dates is available on the FDAs website. Any recalled products should be discarded or returned to the store for a refund.

Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers Recalled Due to Mislabeling of Allergens

Walmart reported on December 1 that Mondelz Global LLC has recalled certain Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches because some packs were mislabeled as Cheese Cracker Sandwiches. This mix-up puts individuals with peanut allergies at risk. The affected products were shipped to stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.

The recall applies only to 20-count cartons of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches. Anyone with a peanut allergy should dispose of the recalled crackers immediately. Products are safe for those without peanut allergies.
