A Delta Airlines flight from New York to Edinburgh had to reroute to Dublin following a technical issue with Edinburgh Airport's air traffic control system.
Delta Flight 208 departed from New York on Thursday evening, aiming to arrive in Edinburgh at approximately 9 a.m. local time. After completing the transatlantic journey, the Boeing 767 circled near Edinburgh for about 20 minutes before being redirected to Ireland, touching down in Dublin shortly after 10 a.m.
Edinburgh Airport confirmed the disruption, explaining that "no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport due to an IT problem with our air traffic control provider."
According to Flightradar24, 11 flights headed to Edinburgh were forced to divert, with most landing at Glasgow instead. By 10:45 a.m., less than an hour after Delta Flight 208 arrived in Dublin, Edinburgh Airport resumed normal operations.
Delta Airlines had no immediate comment regarding the diversion.
