Titans Running Back Claims Jaguars Punter Threatened Him During Altercation: '[He] Said He Was Going to Murder Me'

The atmosphere turned tense during the Jacksonville Jaguars' 25-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 13, with several on-field skirmishes taking place. While Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was involved in one altercation, the most serious confrontation involved Titans running back Julius Chestnut and Jaguars punter Logan Cooke.

During the fourth quarter, Chestnut alleged that Cooke threatened his life amid a scuffle. Chestnut recounted, I was just trying to play hard. He came up to me and said he was gonna kill me.

When asked about the incident, Chestnut expressed confusion, saying he did not understand Cooke's behavior: I don't really know why the punter did that. Honestly, I was just trying to play hard, and he came up to me, said he was going to kill me. I don't know what made him do that.

Chestnut suggested the tension may have stemmed from an earlier play in which he blocked Cooke. Despite the confrontation, he noted that Cooke never provided an explanation: That was surprising to me. I ain't never seen nothing like that before.

The conflict reportedly began after Chestnut blocked Cooke during a punt return with roughly 14 minutes left in the game. Cooke sustained a minor injury and briefly left the field for evaluation before returning to punt. Shortly thereafter, Chestnut was involved in another key block, leading Cooke to confront him, sparking the altercation.

Both Cooke and Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik were assessed unnecessary roughness penalties, while Titans safety Mike Brown received a penalty and was ejected.

Cooke has been with the Jaguars since 2018, following his selection in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. It remains uncertain whether the team or league will impose any disciplinary action following Chestnuts allegations.
