Titans Running Back Claims Jaguars Punter Threatened Him During Altercation: 'He Said He Was Going to Kill Me'

The atmosphere heated up during the Jacksonville Jaguars' 25-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 13, with several confrontations erupting on the field. While Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was involved in one altercation, a more alarming incident involved Titans running back Julius Chestnut and Jaguars punter Logan Cooke.

Chestnut stated that during a fourth-quarter scuffle, Cooke directly threatened his life. "I was just trying to play hard. He came up to me and said he was gonna kill me," Chestnut revealed.

When asked about Cookes behavior, Chestnut explained, "I don't really know why the punter did that. Honestly, I was just trying to play hard, and he came up to me, said he was going to kill me. So, I don't know what made him do that." He suggested that Cooke may have been upset about an earlier play in which Chestnut blocked him, but said no explanation was ever given.

"That was surprising to me. I ain't never seen nothing like that before," Chestnut added.

The conflict reportedly stemmed from a block during a punt return with about 14 minutes remaining. Chestnuts block caused Cooke a brief injury, requiring evaluation for a concussion, although he was cleared to return and continue punting. On the following punt, Chestnut was involved in another block, after which Cooke approached him, sparking a confrontation and allegedly issuing the threat.

Both Cooke and Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik were penalized for unnecessary roughness during the scuffle. Titans safety Mike Brown also received a penalty and was ejected from the game.

Cooke has been with Jacksonville since 2018, having been selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. It remains unclear if any disciplinary action will follow in response to Chestnuts allegations.
