Bears rookie RB Kyle Monangai achieves unique feat

The 2025 NFL draft featured an impressive array of running back talent, with several top prospects selected early. Despite this, the Chicago Bears waited until the seventh round to pick Rutgers' Kyle Monangai, the Big Ten's leading rusher in 2024, a choice that initially seemed like a gamble.

That gamble has paid off. Monangai has steadily climbed the Bears' depth chart and carved out a significant role as the complementary back alongside veteran D'Andre Swift. Head coach Ben Johnson has effectively paired Swift and Monangai, creating a formidable dual-threat at the running back position.

The duo showcased their power in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, combining for 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Monangai individually contributed 22 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown, marking his fourth consecutive week scoring on the ground.

Remarkably, Monangai stands out as the only rookie running back this season to achieve 100 or more rushing yards in multiple games. In a class loaded with high-profile rookies, the Bears appear to have discovered a hidden gem who fits seamlessly into Johnson's offensive system.

Known for his determination and strong running between the tackles, Monangai adds a physical, smash-mouth style to Chicago's dynamic offense.
