The Dallas Cowboys have become accustomed to consecutive Thursday games in recent seasons. Historically, the NFL has faced concerns from other teams over the Cowboys consistently hosting a Thanksgiving game without traveling. In response, the league often schedules Dallas for a Thursday Night Football matchup the following week.
This season, the Cowboys are set to face Detroit, the other team traditionally hosting on Turkey Day. Detroits offense is notoriously challenging, which makes Sundays initial injury report particularly noteworthy as both teams deal with key absences.
The Lions recently lost star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown during their Thanksgiving defeat to the Green Bay Packers. Meanwhile, Dallas has been without starting cornerback Trevon Diggs for more than a month. On Sunday, the Cowboys activated Diggs 21-day practice window, signaling a likely return to game action soon.

Diggs, earning $9.5 million this season with a cap impact slightly over $12 million, has played in only 19 games since signing his $97 million extension before the 2023 season. Dallas has struggled with injuries in the cornerback group all year. Just last week, second-year player Caelen Carson missed time due to a hamstring issue, and DaRon Bland sat out several snaps with a foot injury but returned later in the game. Adding Diggs back to the 53-man roster will bolster the defensive backfield, especially as rookie Shavon Revel played every snap in only his third career game last week.
Other injury notes include DE Jadeveon Clowney, who participated in Sundays practice using rehab cords. Updates will follow once all practice reports are officially released.
Additionally, the Cowboys added running back Israel Abanikanda to the practice squad.
