Authorities evacuated nearby properties after a potentially dangerous device was located on a key street. According to a Bedfordshire Police post on Facebook around 12:00 GMT, a specialized bomb disposal team was dispatched to Ampthill Road, Bedford following the discovery.
Police have established safety perimeters along Ampthill Road, Offa Road, Victoria Road, and Sandhurst Road to ensure public safety. Officials stated that further updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
Earlier reports indicate that the suspicious object may have originated from a river, prompting a controlled detonation by the bomb squad. Residents are advised to follow updates via official Bedfordshire Police channels.
