‘The Amazing Race’: Chelsie and Jack reveal how they lost ‘by seconds’ and behind-the-scenes details

After 10 grueling legs of The Amazing Race, the father-daughter team of Chelsie and Jack Bahan concluded their adventure when they became lost on Italian streets, arriving at host Phil Keoghan's pit stop just seconds after Taylor Hale and Kyland Young. As we reached the pit stop, I saw Taylor and Kyland hit the mat. It was literally by seconds, Chelsie shared with Gold Derby. Their close finish placed them fifth, marking the end of a deeply meaningful experience for both.

Final Thoughts at the Pit Stop

Gold Derby: What were your thoughts when Phil informed you it was over?

Jack: We knew we were battling for last. That leg was especially challenging due to a lengthy floral arrangement task, which took nearly three hours and wasnt fully shown on TV. After that, we spent three hours lost. Luckily, Kyland and Taylor also struggled. Driving to Phil at night made navigation harder, but ironically, it was our best navigation of the trip.

Chelsie: Watching Taylor and Kyland finish the floral arrangement was tough. Taylor and I are competitive but close friends, so I felt a mix of admiration and desire to win. My dad had an injury from leg two, so we were slower, either lost or walking. Every misstep was costly. Each time we reached Phil, we were surprised to still be in the raceit was a bittersweet moment.

Experiencing Reality TV Together

Jack: Joining Chelsie in her reality TV journey was unique. I'm not into social media, but hearing people call her name across countries was incredible. When she first called about The Amazing Race, I hesitated because of the risk of injury, but the chance to travel with my daughter was once-in-a-lifetime. It became one of the best experiences with a loved onememories more valuable than any money.

Navigational Challenges and Race Obstacles

Chelsie: Navigation was chaotic; some locals gave good directions, others sent us completely the wrong way. The worst moment was go-karting down cobblestonesmy fingers got hurt, and I felt defeated.

Jack: Watching her push herself on that go-kart task was tough. Seeing her exhausted and asking for help reminded me of her as a little girl.

Memorable Moments and Favorite Locations

Chelsie: Croatia was breathtaking, and Romania was unforgettable with skydiving and unique local experiences. I truly felt alive during that leg.

Jack: Croatia stood out despite the rain. The scenery, water, and people were incredible.
