Jack Osbourne Discovers His Grandfather's Existence at Age 17 After Mom Sharon Lied About His Death

Jack Osbourne has opened up about the complicated and turbulent relationship between his mother, Sharon Osbourne, and her estranged father, the late music manager Don Arden. He spoke about the subject during a recent episode of the British reality show Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!.

According to Jack, he did not meet his grandfather until he was nearly 18 years old. Sharon had kept Arden out of their lives for decades following a serious family conflict connected to the management of Ozzy Osbournes music career. Arden had previously managed Black Sabbath, but after Ozzy left the band in the late 1970s, Sharon took over his solo career. That decision reportedly led to an intense and bitter fallout.

Responding to questions from fellow contestant Kelly Brook about Don Ardens reputation, Jack claimed that his grandfather was involved in violent and criminal behavior. He alleged that Arden had threatened people with firearms and even sent hired attackers after his parents. Jack also recalled that armed men associated with Arden would show up at concerts during that period.

Because of the deep separation between Sharon and her father, Jack believed for many years that Arden had already died. Sharon told him this when he was still a teenager, as she had no intention of reconnecting with him at the time.

In a 2006 interview with The Guardian, Sharon revealed that her children eventually met their grandfather by chance in Los Angeles. The meeting led to an argument, but it also marked one of the rare encounters between Arden and his grandchildren. By that time, Arden was already suffering from Alzheimers disease. He and Sharon reportedly reconciled in 2002, five years before his death in 2007 at the age of 81.

While Jack and his sister Kelly were curious to learn more about their grandfather due to his influence in the music industry, their older sister Aimee chose not to meet him. She did not want to form a bond with someone whose condition was rapidly deteriorating.

Jack also stated on the show that Sharon had once been Ardens protg. He claimed that Don Arden taught her the workings of the business but also allegedly manipulated legal documents to protect himself from potential consequences, placing responsibility in Sharons name.

Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! continues to air nightly on British television.
