Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are reportedly frustrated over a lawsuit filed against Pinkett Smith by a former associate of the actor. On December 1, Bilaal Salaam filed a $3 million complaint claiming that Pinkett Smith threatened him verbally in 2021 and initiated a retaliatory campaign against him in 2023.

According to sources close to the couple, they view the lawsuit as baseless and opportunistic. "They are extremely upset and call it nonsense," one insider said, describing Salaam as someone trying to take advantage of the couple.

The complaint alleges that in September 2021, Pinkett Smith confronted Salaam in the Regency Calabasas Commons lobby, warning him that if he continued sharing her personal matters, he could face serious harm. The lawsuit also claims she pressured him to sign a nondisclosure agreement and followed him to his car while issuing further verbal threats. Following a public interview Salaam gave, the complaint says he began receiving additional threats from Pinkett Smith's circle and faced a retaliatory campaign.

In a 2023 interview, Salaam had suggested he witnessed Smith in a sexual encounter with actor Duane Martin. Pinkett Smith dismissed the claim as "nonsense" in a later interview. The lawsuit seeks damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, asserting that Pinkett Smith had accused Salaam of attempting to extort the couple.

Sources say the couple is particularly upset about private matters being publicly discussed. "Bilaal has known Will for years, but he became a blabbermouth, which angered both Will and Jada," a source shared. The lawsuit is viewed by the couple as a strategy to secure financial gain.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been married since 1997. In 2023, Pinkett Smith revealed that the two had been separated for seven years. They share two children, Jaden, 27, and Willow, 25, while Smith also has a son, Trey, 33, from a previous marriage.
