Variety Reveals Top 25 Hit Songs of 2025: ‘Ordinary,’ ‘Luther’ and Beyond

Each year, we highlight songs that define the moment, and in 2025, hits are more than just musicthey are the soundtrack to countless online videos, posts, and shared digital memories. These songs capture moments in our lives and shape the culture around them.

This years Top 25 list shows some intriguing trends. While it might look similar to last years rankings, only seven songs from 2025 made the list, compared to 16 from 2024. Four tracks in the 2025 Top 10A Bar Song (Tipsy), Lose Control, Beautiful Things, and Not Like Uswere already Top 10 hits in 2024, demonstrating the lasting impact of certain tracks.

The long-standing popularity of some songs reflects a blockbuster year for pop in 2024, especially from emerging artists. Meanwhile, 2025 has already produced major hits from artists like KPop Demon Hunters, Alex Warren, Kendrick Lamar, and Morgan Wallen, alongside new contributions from the Maras, Bad Bunny, and Leon Thomas.

Varietys annual Hitmakers celebration continues online throughout the week and concludes with an in-person event in Los Angeles on Saturday. Honorees include Hitmaker of the Year Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, Buddy Guy, Megan Moroney, Alex Warren, the Maras, Ros, BigXThaPlug, Role Model, Addison Rae, Elvira Anderfjrd, Luka Kloser, Audrey Nuna, REI AMI, Sounwave, Mustard, Jack Antonoff, and more.

The Top 25 chart data comes from Luminate, Varietys official data partner, while other award decisions are determined by editorial research and internal deliberation. Together, the list and honorees reflect an exceptional year in music.
