The highly anticipated fifth and final season of Prime Videos dark superhero series, The Boys, is on the horizon. New promotional posters hint at a destructive clash between the unstoppable Homelander (Antony Starr) and the relentless vigilante Billy Butcher (Karl Urban).
Filming for the concluding season wrapped up in August 2025. Showrunner Eric Kripke and the cast have offered intermittent glimpses into the final chapter, though many plot details remain tightly guarded. Despite this, fans already know a fair amount about guest stars, potential release timing, and returning characters.
No official premiere date has been revealed, but Kripke shared updates on social media about the production's progress. He noted that editing is complete, with visual effects, music, and color grading halfway finished, suggesting a 2026 release is plausible.
While no trailer has been released yet, the official The Boys social accounts have teased viewers with striking posters depicting Homelander and Butchers inevitable confrontation. The captions read: Scorched earth. Shock and awe. Blood and bone.
New cast members joining the final season include Daveed Diggs, known for Hamilton and Snowpiercer, in a mysterious role, and Mason Dye, who will portray the previously mentioned but unseen character Bombsight. Additionally, the show will feature a Supernatural reunion with Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Jensen Ackles (as Soldier Boy) appearing together on-screen.
Returning cast members expected in Season 5 include Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Jensen Ackles Soldier Boy will also appear in a significant capacity, tying into the upcoming prequel spinoff, Vought Rising.
Behind-the-scenes images shared by Kripke and the cast highlight the camaraderie and energy on set, with Urban reprising Billy Butcher and Quaid teasing fans with glimpses of their characters dynamics. The season promises intense action as Butcher, now powered by Compound-V and Temp-V, prepares to confront Homelander, who has expanded his authority through government-backed powers.
The Season 5 premiere is titled Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite, written by Paul Grellong and directed by Phil Sgriccia, setting the stage for the climactic final showdown. Kripke has confirmed that this will be the series concluding chapter, with the narrative crafted to deliver a dramatic and explosive finale.
