The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has expressed that producers have valid worries regarding Netflixs announcement to acquire Warner Bros. for $82.7 billion.
"Producers are understandably apprehensive about the potential sale or merger of some of the most iconic and influential studios in our industry. For over a century, these studios have employed millions, entertained audiences worldwide, and highlighted the finest aspects of American culture," the PGA stated.
The statement continued: "As we face a period of rapid economic and technological transformation, it is crucial for the industry, together with policymakers, to ensure that the livelihoods of producers are safeguarded, creativity is nurtured, and opportunities remain abundant for workers and artists. Consumers should retain choice, and freedom of expression must be upheld. Any proposed merger or sale of legacy studios must meet this standard. Within these companies archives lies not just content, but the heritage and spirit of our nation."
