'Outlander' Actor Shares That Several Endings Were Recorded for the Last Season

The countdown to the final season of Outlander continues, and although fans will have to wait until March for Starz's latest installment, Sophie Skelton offered an intriguing hint during her appearance at the Gotham Awards. Skelton, who portrays Briannathe daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan)spoke to ET about a fascinating detail regarding the series finale.

When asked for any insights, Skelton admitted, Honestly, trying to give no spoilers on that show is incredibly hard. We actually filmed a few different endings just so that its kind of a surprise for everyone. This revelation promises an unpredictable and thrilling conclusion for fans as the series heads toward its final chapter.

She added, But yeah, we air in March. We finished filming it a bit ago now, so its just exciting to kind of close off that chapter and celebrate it with the fans. Were just sorry its been a bit of a wait.

Although long hiatuses are familiar to Outlander enthusiasts, Starz offered a break from the Droughtlander with the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which explores the love stories of Claires parents, Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry (Jeremy Irvine), and Jamies parents, Ellen (Harriet Slater) and Brian (Jamie Roy). Season 7 wrapped up at the start of 2025, and teasers for the eighth season have already provided glimpses of the epic conclusion to Jamie and Claires time-traveling saga, adapted from Diana Gabaldons bestselling novels.

Reflecting on her characters journey, Skelton commented, It was so bittersweet. I mean, I didnt really know how Id feel. Its really rare to say goodbye to a show youve been on for ten years.

Fans can finally witness Briannas story come to an end when Outlander returns on Friday, March 6, 2026, on Starz. The news that multiple endings were filmed only adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the series grand finale.
