Netflix reassures subscribers in a carefully worded late night letter on Warner Bros. deal: "No Changes Today"

Roughly a day after Netflix announced an $83 billion agreement to acquire Warner Bros. film and television studios, along with HBO and HBO Max, the company sent a late-night message to more than 82 million U.S. subscribers emphasizing that nothing is changing.

The four-paragraph email repeatedly stresses that both Netflix and HBO Max will continue to function as separate streaming services. Subscribers were assured that the acquisition will not affect their current plans or access.

Netflix also addressed a common question: whether users with existing HBO Max subscriptions should cancel. The company clarified that Netflix and Warner Bros. will remain independent until the transaction officially closes.

According to Netflix, several steps still remain before the deal is finalized, including regulatory reviews and shareholder approval. The company promised to share further updates as soon as they are available.

Despite the hurdles aheadranging from anticipated regulatory scrutiny to potential legal or competitive challengesNetflix expressed excitement about the future. The service highlighted the prospect of uniting Warner Bros. iconic franchises, such as Harry Potter, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Casablanca, Game of Thrones and the DC Universe, with Netflix hits like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton and KPop Demon Hunters.

The subscriber letter concluded by assuring viewers that they can continue enjoying their current Netflix membership without interruption while the acquisition process unfolds.
