Meghan Markle's Netflix Deal Confirmed with Holiday Special Featuring 'Leftover Footage' from 2024

Meghan Markle's latest special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, premiered on Netflix on December 3, but it turns out that the footage was actually filmed a year ago. According to Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack, this revelation sheds light on the status of Meghan's Netflix partnership.

Sources close to the production revealed that both seasons of the lifestyle show and the holiday special were filmed simultaneously near Meghan and Prince Harry's Montecito, California home in 2024. This filming timeline was confirmed by Shuter in a report published on December 4.

One insider described the special as "leftover footage dressed up in ribbon," noting a clear clue for viewers: the presence of Meghan's beagle, Guy, who passed away in January 2025. This raises speculation that this might be the final episode of With Love, Meghan.

Industry sources suggest that the holiday special is more of a "formality," fulfilling Netflix's final obligation as part of the Sussexes $100 million deal. Despite Meghan and Harrys earlier statements to the contrary, this project could mark the conclusion of their partnership with the streaming giant.

Back in August 2023, Meghan expressed pride in continuing the collaboration with Netflix, announcing a new multi-year deal for all future film and television projects under the Archewell banner. However, Netflix insiders have pointed to the decision to air repurposed holiday content as an indication that the relationship is nearing its end. As one source put it, "The message is, 'We're done.'"
