Matthew Lillard expresses disappointment over Quentin Tarantino's negative opinion of his acting skills: 'It's really hurtful'

Actor Matthew Lillard expressed disappointment after Quentin Tarantino revealed he wasnt fond of his acting. Speaking at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio, Lillard responded to Tarantinos comment on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast where the filmmaker admitted, I dont care for Matthew Lillard.

Addressing the crowd, Lillard said, Quentin Tarantino recently mentioned he doesnt like me as an actor. Eh, whatever. Who cares. While he initially brushed off the remark, he admitted it stung.

It hurts your feelings. It really sucks, Lillard shared. You wouldnt say something like that to someone like Tom Cruise, a top-tier Hollywood actor. He explained that the contrast between fan admiration and industry reception was striking.

I get a lot of love from audiences here, but in Hollywood, thats a different story, Lillard said. Its humbling, and it does hurt.

Lillards experience is not unique; Tarantino has previously criticized other actors. On the same podcast, the director singled out Paul Dano, criticizing his performance alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. Tarantino described Dano as weak and suggested the films dynamic suffered as a result.

Despite these remarks, Lillard remains candid about the emotional impact of industry opinions, highlighting the contrast between public support and personal validation within Hollywood.
