Kelly Osbourne attends rare event to receive award on behalf of Ozzy Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne made a rare public appearance in Birmingham, U.K., to accept the Lord Mayors Award on behalf of her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at 76 in July. She also received a book of condolences honoring his life and legacy.

During the December 3 event, 41-year-old Kelly wore an all-black outfit complemented by a matching hairbow and her fathers iconic round sunglasses. She posed alongside Birminghams Lord Mayor, Zafar Iqbal, and her mother, Sharon Osbourne, 63, who held the award plaque.

After the ceremony, Kelly and Sharon shared a lunch with Iqbal, Deputy Lord Mayor Ken Wood, and other city council members.

I want to thank the people of Birmingham for showing my family so much love and for celebrating my father in a way that made him incredibly happy, Kelly said in a video shared by Birmingham City Council. The book of condolences, filled with hundreds of thousands of signatures, exceeded our wildest dreams. We are so grateful.

Kelly noted that the Lord Mayors Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to Birmingham and its community, would have meant a great deal to Ozzy, who was proud to be from the city.

My fathers pride in being a Brummie was unmatched, Kelly added. Birmingham has always honored him.

Since Ozzys passing on July 22, Kellymother to 2-year-old Sidney with fianc Sid Wilsonhas largely stayed out of the spotlight, though she did attend a cocktail event with her mother in November. She has spoken openly about her ongoing grieving process, describing grief as coming in waves and emphasizing the importance of family and community support.
