Jane Seymour Reveals that Filming Nude Scene in "Wedding Crashers" was 'Even Funnier' Off Screen Because of 'Nervous' Owen Wilson (Exclusive)

Nearly two decades after her memorable near-nude moment in the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers, Jane Seymour looks back with pride at a role that redefined her career. The actress recalls filming the bold scene opposite Owen Wilson, noting that the awkwardness behind the camera made the result even funnier on screen.

As the film prepares for a special theatrical return for its 20th anniversary, Seymour remembers that both she and Wilson were extremely nervous before shooting the seduction scene in which her character, high-society figure Kathleen Cleary, exposes her breasts and urges his character to touch them while calling her Kitty Cat.

According to Seymour, Wilson hesitated during filming, which only enhanced the comedic impact. Director David Dobkin repeatedly asked Wilson to adjust his hands while filming multiple takes, leading to moments Seymour describes as even more hilarious than what audiences eventually saw. Near the end of shooting, Wilson whispered a last-minute idea, suggesting she call him Pervert as she exits a quick improvisation that became the perfect finishing touch.

Despite her confidence on set, Seymour admits she initially questioned whether to take the part, having just completed several seasons of the wholesome series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Unsure how audiences and her fan base would react, she reread the script multiple times before deciding she couldnt pass up the opportunity. Competing against many actresses her age, Seymour auditioned something she rarely had to do in her earlier career and ultimately secured the role.

The decision proved pivotal. Although known for drama rather than comedy, Seymours unexpected casting amplified the humor of the character. Her transformation from dignified frontier doctor to bold comedic seductress surprised audiences and opened new opportunities in film and television. Following Wedding Crashers, she went on to take more comedic roles and credits the movie for launching a successful new phase in her career.

Tickets are now available for the 20th anniversary re-release of Wedding Crashers on December 4 and 11, featuring an additional 10 minutes of deleted scenes previously shown only in the home edition.
