I experienced London’s new £2,500 celebrity body scan

Could a single medical test really alter your perspective on life? Recently, Kim Kardashian revealed that a brain aneurysm was detected thanks to a full-body MRI from Prenuvo. This cutting-edge preventative scan, popular in Canada and the U.S., has now opened its doors in Londons West End, marking a significant moment for UK healthcare.

Prenuvo was co-founded by entrepreneur Andrew Lacy and Dr. Raj Attariwala, a radiologist and biomedical engineer. The venture has attracted investors such as Eric Schmidt, Tony Fadell, Cindy Crawford, and Rande Gerber. Our mission has always been early detection to change healthcare outcomes, says Lacy. Launching in London gives people access to a personalised health evaluation beyond the standard check-up.

While many rely on the NHS, waiting lists can be frustrating. Prenuvo offers Britons a chance to take proactive control over their health. The scan costs 2,499 and includes a 60-minute full-body MRI at a modern clinic, followed by a consultation with an in-house doctor to discuss the results.

Advanced Preventative Screening

Traditional MRIs focus on a specific concern, such as a knee injury or suspected heart issue. Prenuvo scans, however, examine up to 33 organs, screening for over 500 conditions including solid tumors, brain aneurysms, spinal degeneration, metabolic and autoimmune disorders, and cysts. Those with a family history of cancer may find this comprehensive approach particularly reassuring. Note that the scan does not include detailed breast or heart evaluations.

The service is available to adults over 18, with some restrictions for pregnancy or certain heart conditions. Before the appointment, patients complete a detailed health questionnaire covering lifestyle, family history, and past surgeries.

Personal Reflections

Despite generally good health, recent conversations with friends and personal losses have made me more aware of potential health risks. Daily aches, fatigue, and general life stress can make anyone consider the "what ifs." The Prenuvo scan offered an opportunity to check for underlying issues, providing both reassurance and a sense of control.

On the Day of the Scan

Anticipation built as I prepared for the appointment. I fasted for four hours, allowed coffee and water, and dressed in the clinics stylish scrubs. The MRI room felt modern and welcoming, with LED lighting and a personal entertainment screen. Choosing to watch a show helped keep still during the scan, and despite the machines whirring, the experience was almost hypnotic. Even those who feel claustrophobic can adapt, and a sense of relief follows once the scan is complete.

After the Scan

Results aside, the experience itself brought a newfound appreciation for life. Regular scans are recommended every year or two, but even a single session can be illuminating. Beyond its medical benefits, Prenuvo encourages reflection on health and lifestyle choices, motivating long-term wellbeing.
