‘Hulu Renews ‘Chad Powers’ for Season 2’

Hulu has officially announced that the sports-comedy series Chad Powers will return for a second season. The show features Glen Powell as Russ Holliday, a disgraced football star who gets a chance to revive his career by assuming the identity of Chad Powers, a player for the South Georgia Catfish, using prosthetics and a distinctive accent.

The series draws inspiration from ESPN and Omaha Productions segment Elis Places, where Eli Manning went undercover with prosthetics to join Penn States walk-on tryouts. Manning also serves as an executive producer alongside his brother Peyton Manning, Glen Powell, and a team including Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart, Kati Fernandez, Adam Fasullo, Luvh Rakhe, and Tony Yacenda. Michael Waldron and Powell are credited as co-creators.

Supporting cast members include Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson.

The first season, spanning six episodes, concluded with a cliffhanger: Ricky discovers that Chad is actually Russ, but chooses not to reveal his secret to the Catfish team. Powell shared that plans for Chads story were already in place, anticipating a continuation if the show were renewed. He explained that the show has a clear structure with a beginning, middle, and end, and hinted at exciting developments for the upcoming season.

We believe in this show and think it has the potential to be a hit loved by audiences everywhere, Powell said. If given the chance to make season two, we have some exciting ideas lined up.
