Meghan Markle appears excited for the upcoming holiday season, with her special With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration set to air on December 3. An expert, however, suggests that this move, along with her show, indicates the Duchess of Sussex's desire to position herself as the new American royalty.
According to this expert, Markles Netflix lifestyle series is unlikely to be of any interest to the British royal family.
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, expressed skepticism about the show's impact. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Chard stated, Meghan seems to be aiming to become the new American royalty with this project. However, its hard to believe the American audience is taking this seriously.
Chard also shared her thoughts on Markle's persona, commenting that the Duchess of Sussex is living a life that resembles a "fictional, boho-style princess" and aspiring to be a "wannabe lifestyle guru." The photographer further noted that Markles holiday special is centered around her, showcasing how special she is, while also making her guests feel at ease. Yet, Chard remarked that it is unsettling for many in the UK to see Markle highlight her estrangement from the royal family during a season that traditionally emphasizes family, togetherness, and giving.
Chard went on to argue that the former Suits star does not embody the "life of service" associated with the British royal family. She emphasized that Markles holiday special cannot be compared to the work of the British royals, such as Princess Catherines concert or King Charles heartfelt Christmas broadcasts, which focus on uniting people. In this regard, Chard believes Markles holiday show is unlikely to garner attention from the British royal family.
Markles special will feature prominent guests, including author-producer Lindsay Roth, tennis star Naomi Osaka, and Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.
